Without rapid climate action, countries face severe climate impacts, rising capital costs, and stunted growth. Indeed, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change makes it clear that anthropogenic climate change is already generating severe physical impacts. Limiting average global warming to above preindustrial levels of 1.5°C is crucial to prevent catastrophic human, ecological, and financial impacts (Figure 1). While this remains in reach, the window for action is rapidly closing.
