Be direct. Ask what the sales targets are and how they were developed. Ask if anyone in the company created a bottoms-up plan to meet those targets from a sales and marketing perspective. Ask how those targets will be reached: what programs, activities and events will be conducted to hit those goals? As a consultant, I know that not many companies actually conduct that exercise.
