As more countries implement ambitious carbon pricing and border adjustments, carbon constraints are increasingly reshaping global trade. To strengthen its climate ambitions, the European Union launched the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which imposes a carbon price on high-emission imports to prevent carbon “leakage” – where companies relocate their high-emission production to countries with weaker climate regulations to avoid carbon costs. Starting in January 2026, CBAM will ente
