Database technologies as we know them have been available for nearly 50 years, so you’d expect data issues to be well under control by now. Somehow that’s not how most marketers feel. In a 2023 study, 39% cited data as the main challenge faced by the marketing function. The reason is that over the last 50 years, as much as databases have become immensely faster and more capable, the diversity, complexity and volumes of data have increased at an even greater pace.
