Brunei’s economy saw broad-based growth in 2024, its strongest expansion in decades. The economy grew by 4.1 percent in 2024, driven by strong rebounds in both upstream and downstream oil and gas (O&G) sectors. The upstream O&G sector expanded by 5.4 percent, supported by the commissioning of new oil wells that came online since October 2023, while the non-O&G sector’s growth was supported by recovering downstream activities and continued strength in trade, air transport, and comm
