The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the ICT infrastructure challenges that most African countries face. As citizens from all over the world relied on internet connectivity to work, study, and communicate, many Africans struggled to make similar connections with limited, or even no access to the internet. The Alliance for Affordable Internet found that of the 45 African countries it monitors, only 10 meet its standard for “affordable internet,” 1 defined as 1 GB of data costing 2% or le
