Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a diverse set of 21 diseases and disease groups that mainly affect resource-poor populations in tropical and subtropical countries (1). They include bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal diseases, as well as snakebite envenoming, which – unlike the other NTDs – is noncommunicable.
