The European Union has ambitious objectives in this regard, and in the context of the European Green Deal1 and European Climate Law2 , has set a target to reduce its net domestic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and to become climate neutral (net zero greenhouse gas emissions) by 2050.
