Between 2021 and 2024, the number of autochthonous dengue outbreaks and cases increased considerably. Intensive international travel has facilitated the importation of mosquito-borne viruses from endemic, tropical and sub-tropical areas while secondary, local transmission of the viruses from imported cases is predominantly driven by invasive Aedes mosquito species.
