The Suva City Council Health Department is working to make Suva a “food safe city” through enhanced regulation and monitoring of street food businesses. From May 2023 to February 2024, a council team conducted a participatory self-assessment of capacities to consolidate work towards a food safe city, using the World Health Organization’s Urban health capacities assessment and response resource kit. This city-example captures key learning and reflections from the process.
