Gartner formed an earlyyet still widely cited, defnition using three "Vs"(Volume, Velocity,and Variety) to represent the key characteristics of Big Data:"Big Data is high-volume, high-velocity and/or high-varietyinformation assets that demand cost-effective, innovative formsof information processing that enables enhanced insight, decisionmaking, and process automation.
